Another Barn Owl from a few weeks ago when I must have took hundreds of images.I have made it a mission of mine to really work on these beautiful creatures and shall be returning to hopefully get more in a few weeks time. Have lots of close ups showing lots of the detail but also like the more habitat shots to and thought this one shows the more delicate look that these birds have.

Canon 1DMK4, Canon 500f4L +1.4 convertor, ISO 800, f5.6,1/500

The lighting on the bird is superb, and I love the composition. A shame about those o.o.f. twigs, but I guess you can't have everything. Rather like John's hawfinch, this series just keeps getting better and better.

Funny you should say that about the oof twigs David I thought it gave the image some habitat without it looking to cluttered have got some more plainer backgrounds in other images that I have yet to sort out

That's beautiful Karen. I know it's a matter of opinion, but I wouldn't have this any other way. Leave the twigs in for me, they give structure to the image.

Superb as posted, Karen.

Hope you enjoyed Glyn's Cuban Tody, it's such a smart little bird.

Hi Karen
You seem to have a monopoly on barn owl images - I agree with David's comment about them just getting better. I like this image because of the inclusion of the twigs - sometimes it is how an image 'feels' which determines if it is a keeper or not. This one feels right to me.

Cheer,
Chris

I can't add any further constructive critique than has already been said Karen so I shall just echo the previous comments and say it is a fabulous image.

I like the idea of the bush, the pastel palette...and I even recognise the location having spent some of last week there...when they all decided to hide.
