Plectrophenax nivalis

Hi all,

Saw these for the first time ever yesterday. Really beautiful little birds. Chuffed to have seen them!

Light was pretty dull, but like the way this bird was stretching.

C and C most welcome as normal!

Techs:
D200, 500mm f4, tripod

1/320 sec @ f5.6 ISO200

Post processing - slight crop (approx 2 cms from LHS and top for composition) tweak to levels, noise ninja and sharpen for web.

Thanks for looking!

I like the very low angle and the bird caught mid wing stretch is a bonus. A touch off the top to pano it would work too.

Nice, the stretch really makes the image... maybe a touch more of a head turn towards the camera, but that is something that is out of your control....

Good action and a very good angle Dawn.

I like the tones in the foreground and background as well. They complement the colours of the Bunting perfectly.

Cheers

I think the dull light may actually have done you a favour, the detail in the whites looks great. An unusual pose, but all the better for that.
