This is a photo of some golden bells taken at Aquarena Springs San Marcos TX. Edited and enhanced. I am leaving the background natural looking and then adding abstract effects.

Eve,

I think the image might be stronger if the bell on the viewer's right was completely in the frame. For my tastes, the bg competes too much with the flowers in this. I might be inclined to darken the bg and possibly desaturate the yellows just a touch to bring in more detail in the blooms.

Striking colors in this.

I think it is interesting to experiment with textures in this way, Eve, and there's a strong, graphic contrast here between smooth and grainy - but just a little too much so perhaps, as, for me at least, the feel of the flowers themselves does not quite come through.

Eve: My critique jives with Pat's. I also think you were right to post this first in Photo Art. The posting guidelines aren't abundantly clear but you should not post the same image in two different galleries. It is OK to post the same image in a Regional forum and a critique gallery. I know the line between some Flora shots and Photo Art is pretty fuzzy but please do try to pick one or the other.>=))>
