Owlet-nightjars

Local birders had reported two young Australian Owlet-nightjars peeking out from their nest high in a eucalypt spout. On my third visit to the site they finally showed themselves. They mostly dozed, but a passing raven got their attention here.

Canon 7D, EF500 f/4 + 2x, tripod, manual focus, ISO 800, 1/400, f/10, large crop: 42% of FF. No NR applied as I thought a little grain may enhance the textures of the timber.

Yup, cute is the right word and a fine shot to boot Simon. They almost look like little Marmosets. I like your framing and the subjects are wonderful.

Dam thats really nice. 1000 mm and 45% crop and it still looks really great. Nice job on the techs here and the subject is great but becomes even more special when you see its a species that is declining in large numbers.
