This group of Prairie Dogs keep watch over their den. I shot this yesterday near my home in Fort Worth. Please comment on how you think it could be improved.

Canon 7D, EF400 f5.6L + 1.4TC, manual focus, tripod, ISO 800, 1/125 sec. @ f8
Small crop ( this is 79% of the original image)

Love the Prairie Dogs and the way they are looking out of the frome...Maybe less tree at the top of the frame?

The strength of this image, to my eye, is how nicely the bright prairie dogs are set off against the dark background! It might have been cool to have all four facing profile to the right, without one of them posing butt to the camera. I think the standing one against the vertical line of the tree is a positive. I think this would have benefited by zooming in closer, to make them more prominent in the frame would have been better.

the background and rim lighting do make this shot, but I love how the curve of the tree flows with the standing dog. Although a crop off the top to where the tree trunk begins its leftward curve may be helpful.

I shot Dogs for the first time in Theodore Roosevelt NP this past fall. Really fun to sit and watch the social dynamic of the towns.

Very nice image, Scott! I like the comp with the tree very much. I cannot think of much to improve, besides placing the Dogs by hand in a perfect arrangement.
