Small groups were feeding amongst the fresh seaweed that had been washed up onto the beach. I could have cropped tighter but I wanted to include some of the colourful weed

I too like the image a lot. I like seeing some of the environment and the nice low angle. the dof is great. I sometimes think we get to obsessed with getting a very tight crop of a bird.

Love the light, airy feel of the image, Rob. Got a lot going for it in tems of techs, pose and habitat. Only thing I might consider is to remove and inch from the left side. Seems the image doesn't need that space to me.

Excellent! The vegetation adds some color and detail to the environment. I like the crop the way you have it. I am often guilty of cropping too tightly, so this proves that a 'looser' crop can still have plenty of detail and tells a better story. Well done. :toast:

The composition works for me as posted.

Interesting to see the bird in this basic plumage. It would be a challenge mixed in with the North American regulars.

Hi Rob :wavey: A marvelous capture of bird and habitat. The BG is very pleasing against the light colored Stint. The detail and exposure are perfect

Rob,

Very glad you left the colorful seaweed, it adds depth to the image and interest. Great low angle, pose, detail and sharpness. I especially like the seaweed in fron of the bird and the head angle.
