mule deer skull in snow

I'm posting this here in M&N because I placed the skull in the scene and the deer was originally shot by a co-worker several years ago. I went out in the near blizzard conditions today. I placed the skull in the snow, and let the winds blow some additional snow across the skull.

Rob, perfect angle here, with the FG antler tip between the BG one.
Can't really say why, but I really like this!
Could very well have been a natural find.

This is spookier than the WC one, but i think i liked the abstract qualities in that one more...

Hi Rob,

Nice composition. Very tidy. I think it needs to be framed a little more loosely. I read this from right to left so the abrupt crop at the front of the skull seems too close. Your call on the color balance, but the snow looks a little blue to me in the small version - larger looks good.

Very spooky Rob but well placed especially with the blowing snow. I saw your post in the Weekly Challenge but like this better.

Thanks everybody. I agree, at least on some screens the snow is too blue, and I need to work on it some more.

I really love the picture and the fact that you premeditated and composed the scene only adds to this consideration. :toast:
