After a rainstorm last summer, I shot these pansies among others. I like the double image they present but I'm concerned about the dust motes captured in the lowest drops. I tried to clone them out (one of the few tools I've learned to use in photoshop) but lost too much of the drops which I wanted to keep to balance the composition. Any suggestions?

Nancy: I like the subjects and comp. This is pretty dim (no values on the histogram above 200) and by boosting the brightness you get more pop and detail. The drops are a very nice plus. >=))>

Charlie, thank you for your ambivalence. I lean towards leaving in the natural imperfections but often get suggestions to take them out. I'm learning which ones are major distractions and which aren't. I really do appreciate your comments on this. I now feel a little less of a slob for leaving dirt on my pansies. Thanks

Nancy,

I like Bill's suggestion of boosting the whites in this. I also like the droplets very much. With regard to the dust, I agree with Charlie. I think it's up to you. I'd probably clone out most of it but only after I'd brought the exposure up to see what I'd be working with. You should do what you like though.

I also agree with Bill's suggestion. My first thought when I opened this was it would have a little more punch if it was a brighter. The droplets are really nice, and I dont find the spots distracting in this version.

I agree with the brightness suggestions Nancy, but other than that this is really well done.

Nancy : I like the composition, though the image is a bit dark, as others have said. The droplets on the front flower are beautifully sharp but those on the flower just behind less so. I wonder about a shot at slightly less wide aperture so all those drops would have been crisp. Maybe you prefer it the way it is ( it's all so subjective really !! ) but this is what occurred to me. Anyway I like this very much overall - there are some great textures throughout.

Nancy:
Nice comp and capture. Good looking twins.
I am not bothered by the dust spots which are not distracting at all (but may be more obvious when you brighten up the image).
