Blue Mood Abstract

I was shooting sunset over a bayou, but I didn't like it very much. I did, however, love the reflection in the water, so I just made a fairly major crop and came up with this.

LARGER version available too.

D2X w/ Tokina ATX 12-24 @ 12mm
1/50 @ f/11 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
No filters
Tripod
Capture One 6, CS4, TK's wonderful actions

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and very much appreciated. Thanks for looking and sharing.

Great job Bill. Im in a very relaxed state viewing this one. Sits well with the eye and the natural gradient is quite nice.

Thanks for sharing

It seems "simple" but I keep staring at it. really nice work and great eye. I've been trying to shoot some of the bayous around here but the weather really blows lately - hopefully it'll get better soon.

This is so simple and beautiful that it almost makes me cry. At some level, this takes abstraction in a different direction. This is also totally real to me. A very fine image, IMO.

This is simply gorgeous, Bill, but one has to look at the large image to truly appreciate all the nuances of color and tone. Love the diagonal patterns. Fantastic.

Bill,

About as simplistic and subdued as you can get - yet quite engaging actually. Simple shades and gradations of pale blue; just lovely.

Looks like the large version picks up some noise, probably because you said this was a major crop? Do this again, only next time arm yourself with a longer lens.

Cool, Bill. I like it a lot! There's really neat graduated changes across the diagonal that really hold my eye.
Besides, it's way nicer to look at than the snow I plowed today! :toast:

Ooo, great abstract. My kind. I like to do motion blur on these by moving the camera to create streaks. My default when the conditions arent doing much. Nice look!

A simple and lovely abstract. My only nit is the loss of printable pixels from the crop!
