Gilded Barbet Pair

Another photo from our spring trip to Ecuador. This photo was made on our Sanni extension part of the tour. After a peaceful canoe ride, and then a fairly short hike through the forest, we climbed a well built tower that gets you near the top of the rainforest canopy, we saw and photographed many species of birds up there. A very cool expereience!

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Canon 40D, 600mm & 1.4x, 1/160, f6.3, ISO 640, cropped 20% left side and top. And something new for me, a bit of noise reduction on background in CS5.

neat birds, Ken, and nice to get the pair together. I think that brightening the eye of the bird on the right a little might give this more impact.

Love the comp Ken. The main branches make a nice frame for the birds. I like the poses of the two as well. I two would dodge the right bird's eye area to lighten it just a bit.

Real nice to get the pair! It looks like your focus point was just in front of the birds...would do a little selective sharpening on the heads and bring that eye up a little. Well done. Sharon

Must have been a great experience, Ken. Wonderful pair here, but I would also try to bring up the eye of the bird on the right. Well done, and look forward to seeing the other birds you got there.

Ken,

I like the poses of the two birds, the comp you used and the colors of the plumage of the barbets. I'd also consider enhancing the eye of the bird on the right a small amount and perhaps give a little more sharpening to both bird selectively. I'm looking forward to seeing more images from your trip.
