I've been absent for quite a while. Been very busy at work but winter has been very good for my bird photography. I have many images to share with you guys but I'll start with this image of an osprey taking a rainbow trout. His head is just peeking out from under the wing canopy with good eye contact. The light was good with slight cloud cover. Hope you guys enjoy. Please see larger version for better details.

Southern California
Nikon D300S
600mm w/1.4 tc (850mm)
F/7.1
ISO 320
SS 1/2000
Manual Mode
Metering Patern
White balance Manual (sunny)
Wimberly Tripod
Raw
Had to straighten slightly and cropped about 10%.
Thanks for looking.

This gal enjoys the image very much, David. Terrific action; love the eye contact with the wings stretched up and over. That it's a successful hunter is cool to see. A "one-handed" grab at that! The bird looks so strong. It's a powerful photograph.

Nice to have you back David. I like the unsual pose of the Osprey with the fish. I like that I can see the spots on the fish's back. Looking forward to shooting with you again.

Perfect timing. Love the action, water drops. The head peaking out is really nice. Congrats on a fine image.

great action, David. love the interesting posture, clean view of the eye, the trout, and the flying water. I do wish the near wing were a little sharper, but it is a really cool image. Nice job keeping him in the frame, too.

wanderful action shot. the head below its wing is great. If only its nail wasn't in the fish eye ... Nex time please go and said him to get the fish a little bit back. Thanks.

This is very nice David. I like that the trout is sharp. Great action. My only suggestion would be to give the bird a bit more room all around. That is just my taste and not a nit.

Great action and wing position David. Just enough of a look at the eye to make this work well. Welcome back!

A little more room up front would be nice, but this is awesome as is. Sharon
