It's not often you look up to a Ruddy Turnstone. It was on the top of a pile of rotting seaweed and I was lying in the swale. I will not recommend lying under camo in 38C in rotting seaweed with not a breath of wind.

ISO 800 f8 1/1000 resting on beanbag. ISO 800 was a mistake, it was from an earlier effort in a forest gully.

cheers

Super sharp and great detail as usual Rob. Love the comp with the smooth BG. Light is wonderful. I see some color banding in the greys in the BG in the larger verison, but that is probably just web compression. I might add just a bit more to the top if this were mine. Not much just a bit, but comp is always a personal thing.

might not have been pleasant, Rob, but it paid off with a beauty of a shot. great angle, nice setting and bg, sweet details. I like the comp a lot. I do see the banding that Ron mentions, but probably easily fixed. I really like this a lot. Hard to imagine enjoying nice light like this while having temps of 38C.

I like this as presented. Image quality looks quite good to me and I'd never have guessed ISO 800 was used.

Another interesting perspective Rob, that camo rotting seaweed blind is really working, wonderful detail all around and that background really adds to the image, the larger image looks great, way to go.

I enjoy the unusual angle on this species Rob and and your white exposure looks very good as does overall IQ. I think the rotting seaweed makes for an interesting and appropriate (though smelly) perch. Well done.

Rob,

This made me laugh so hard: "I will not recommend lying under camo in 38C in rotting seaweed with not a breath of wind. " Been there, done that and I agree with your advice!

I like everything about this image, especially the great natural colors. Very appealing image as posted.
