Lion roaring with intent

This male lion had been pursuing the females all morning. He had spent a couple of hours patiently following the females waiting for the right moment to mate.

Soon after the sun came up over the horizon he became impatient. He decided to chance his luck and approach the females with intent. This image was recorded as he was within striking distance of the female.

If you want to see her reaction then the "NOT NOW" image can found HERE

Canon 1DMK3, 300mm, f3.5, ISO400, 1/2000

C&C welcome.

Cheers

Austin

A handsome male here Austin in some great light which has given good separation between BG & subject. Personally would like to see a bit more space at the foot of the image, any more?

Think what you could have done if you had the 800mm.

I like this one, and like the female's reaction (via the link) even more! Nice colouring, but I agree with Steve about the space at teh bottom of the image.
