Phil, welcome!
This is a lovely first post!
Nice pose and head- turn, bright eye, nice color sat, and very interesting perch.
Not a big deal, but you might lighten up that dark area in the upper right and perhaps allow a little more room on the top.
Lokking forward to more of your images, as well as your comments and thoughts about other's shots!

Hi Phil,

Welcome to NPN's avian critique gallery, this is a fine first post. Love the pose of the coal tit, the eye contact, nice details and natural colors. The perch has a lot of appeal for me. I agree with Sandy on a little more room on top if you have it. The larger version looks a small amount oversharpened in places, I'd reduce the sharpening some.

I hope that you will join in and offer your comments & critiques on other member images, you will learn as much from giving thoughtful critiques and you do from those you receive.

Looking forward to seeing more of your work.

Looking great Phil, the snow on the perch adds a lot to the image
Well captured.

Phil, welcome to Avian. Love the overall comp. The larger image does look a bit oversharpened other than that the only thing I might do it brighten the entire image just a tad from where you have it right now. Not much, just a bit to get a little more detail in the blacks. I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Welcome to avian Phil. Really like the snowy perch and the nice head turn you got from the bird. Sharpness looks good as does your DOF. Nothing in the background bothers me. I'd lighten this slightly and give the bird just a bit more room up top if I had it.
