Terrific lighting and, as a result, color and texture as well. The centered composition works well also.
Typical good stuff from you. :toast: (P.S. I see some very tiny black specs on some of the petals....)

Gary,

The backlighting is inspired. Beautiful result. The only thing I might consider doing is bring the luminosity up on the center a little. It's gorgeous though as posted and the comp is as strong as the lighting. Outstanding image.

Gary: ELECTRIC! My thoughts echo Pat's regarding the center. I wonder if you could also pop a little fill into the center during capture and not overwhelm the BG. Great concept and execution. >=))>

I'm inspired by your work and will try to make some photos with backlighting :toast:
The picture is great and I like the colors and differences in contrast between middle and backlighted petals.

Thanks everyone for your comments:

@Pat & Bill: I actually have several versions of these. I was debating whether to post this one or the one above. All were made with all the lights turn off except for ambient city lights though the windows. The original post has filled light from the nokia phone (again). The repost is a blend of two exposures, one with LED backlight and the second using the camera flash. The central portion is painted in with 70% opacity. The contrast and luminosity is slight less in the repost. I will probably re-process the original by bumping the luminosity in the center as suggested but also interested to hear views on the blended re-post.

The transparency of the petals really makes this a standout! Congratulations on another winner. :toast:

Gary,

I certainly like the repost but I prefer the clarity in the first image, although the repost is very appealing. I think the repost needs to be brighter or have more dynamic range for my tastes. I might consider Ortonizing it softly and/or playing with levels a bit. It's a good looking image.

Ooh...psychedelic  !!! Great, Gary...imaginative, fun on the first version. As for the second version, I like that equally well but in a different way...less "wow" factor but more "ooh..lovely and dreamy" factor. Excellent execution on both, Gary.

I have to say that the contrast in the original post makes it my favorite of the two. I agree with bringing up the luminosity of the center, but otherwise, I think the first one is right on (the second is excellent as well, but pales in comparison!). Great work, Gary!

Neat image Gary. Great idea to use the LED backlighting. Makes for a striking image. Good color and detail. I do prefer the first image. Actually, I find the darkened center quite intriguing.

Gary, for me they are two different photos: impressive and more creative the first, high photographic quality the second. If they were mine, first I would be very happy, second I would choose the first version. I love creativity.
Take care.
