Hi Jagdeep, I have a huge admiration for this animal and to photograph such a fine specimen is a real privilege, especially in it's natural habitat.

I really like the pose & crop of this, but to me there is a very strong cast running through it which is diluting the strength and character of this magnificent of beasts. Just some gentle tweaks in Curves of the RGB channels brings it t where I think it should be, with a plus 4 in brightness? Hope this might be of help.

Long live the Tiger!

I see the caste Steve's talking about as well.

What strikes me about this image is that it may be a "basic" portrait, but I don't recall seeing many close-up portraits of wild tigers for some reason. A nice view of a really handsome cat.

A very handsome individual. Spectacular work Jagdeep. I wish to observe tigers in the wild some day. :toast:

I like how the wisps of vegetation assure one that this is an animal in the wild. A much more serious expression than the cat Stephen posted. Excellent details and light too. The cast is not apparent to me.

Beautiful detail and a great look from the tiger. Also see the color cast but I don't know if natural conditions could give you that or not since I've never been to an Indian jungle.

Lovely image, once again, Jagdeep! I wonder, though, why the f3.2?

Hi Jagdeep,

Very intense, very regal - well done! I can totally appreciate why a chill ran down your spine! I like how you used selective focus and a thin depth of field to isolate this handsome animal from the background and, like Sally, I appreciate seeing the twigs and grass (and how they imply this is a shot of a tiger in the wild). In terms of the colour cast others have commented on - it's not apparent to me and I see no colours here that appear outside the range of what can occur naturally (depending on lighting conditions, diffuse reflection off grasses, etc.).

Cheers...thanks for sharing this one!

Brad

Thank you friends !
I truly appreciate the comments, which help me make a better photographer.
As for Dr. Ajit's why f 3.2 ?
Because I didn't want to go above ISO 400, I was shooting handheld and Tiger was standing in front of the jeep. So shutter speed of 1/200 sec. was just manageable.

Super shot Jagdeep, the natural setting off sets the tiger beautifully, top shot IMO.

It must be an incredibly humbling experience to be able to have captured this image, especially w/ a 200mm!
Fantastic shot that I can stare at all day!

Hi Jagdeep, beautiful shot of this stunning cat - I have to agree with Steve and Max about the cast - even more clearly visible when you compare with Steve's image posted just after yours - you can see it in the thumbs. So with a bit of adjusting this image can get even better according to me... :wavey:

Since many of you find the cast here, so I wanted to give it another try and here's the result.
But I would like to share my feelings here:
- I never want my pictures to look like someone else's, so always try to give accurate
representation of what I saw in the field. Comparison was inevitable, as these pictures were
posted side by side.
-Color casts are there in the atmosphere resulting from light, dust, reflections, field
conditions, etc. If we always try to make all pics.as pure as possible, then they will all look
similar and it would rob them of any character, they possess of the place.

However I admit that repost looks better here.
