Autumn Canopy

I posted a photo of this tree back in october when the the autumn colour hadn't really arrived. This was taken about three weeks later. It had just stopped raining when I took this and I think this has lifted the colours a bit. This is cropped from a single shot.

All feedback, good or bad is welcome and thanks for looking.

The other shot is this one, http://www.naturephotographers.net/imagecritique/ic.cgi?a=vp&pr=158091&CGISESSID=da2f336a89079dd3c572ae7dda2e099d&u=2490 Hope the link works.

D700, 16-35mm. 2.5 secs @ f/16, iso 200.

Wonderful pano. You framed it perfectly with the limbs extending out from the tree.

I like this very much. The colors, perspective, and the anchoring focal point (the main tree) being far off center. Very nice on the eyes!

It's quite appealing, Gary. Those twin trunks on the right make for a great visual anchor, and the colors and textures are nice things to explore.

Excellent pano-composition Gary! Yes, wet foliage is great for photography, it enriches the colors so much. A great forest scene.

This is impressive, Gary. I love how the branch appears to span the top of the image - comp works well for me, and of course, the colors are great!

Beautiful scene! I love the way my eye climbs those main trunks and sweeps along those branches across the image. Good stuff!

This is a wonderful fall scene Gary. I really like your comp with those horizontal branches across the upper part of the scene. The panoramic format works perfect. love the color too. Really nice work!

Nice one Gary. Good light so the colors are good. I like the pano format for this as well.

Love the luminance in branch layers at the top. Good overall DR in the shot.

Gary,

Lovely colors here - I like the mix of autumn, and pre-autumn greens still in the background. The narrow format works well to accentuate not only the colors but the low hanging horizontal branches of the main tree. Somewhat different from the previous capture - of course. One of the differences being the amount of light and detail in the main trunks with this one being considerably darker. I don't think by default we always need to see detail in the shadows, but I think in this case it might be nice to see just a little. The trunks are heavy in the scene; enough at least that they are a major element here and just for that I'm wishing for more detail.

Even still, I really like the image; the pano format makes this quite enjoyable and fits the scene.

Great! You chose a very inspired framing and format. In general I see panoramic images just "presenting" a full view of some place, so I'm not very keen to see or to use them. But this one just shows more than that.
