Last February we were camping at Flamingo in the Everglades. Eco pond is always a good place to bind birds. This Wood Stork was feeding near the edge of the pond. It was very cooperative. All comments welcome.

Nice exposure, detail, and sharpness on the bird. Nice DOF. It is often hard to make this species look good IMO, you did very well. The noise in the BG and FG makes me think you sharpened the entire image rather than just the bird. Although ISO 800 might be pushing it for the 30D, but I do not know that camera, so I can't say for sure.

Agree with Ron on you making this species look good. Good detail in the eye. A little NR on the water would be nice. This one might work as a vertical too.

Nice one Richard - the head almost pops out of the screen like a 3D movie. Great detail. I'd be tempted to do a little NR on the background.

cheers

Well exposed and nice detail Richard, F/11 gave you great DOF too.
Like the reflection and slightly parted beak here.
Selective sharpening & bit of NR BG would help your presentation IMHO.
Great shot of this not so photogenic bird :toast:

Richard,

I love the reflection in the water. The body is a bit soft but these birds are tough to shoot due to the black and white feathers. Nice capture of a rare bird.

A very nice behavioral image here Richard. F11 certainly helped to get the whole bird sharp, however I'm wondering if at just 214mm F8 would have done the job and then you could have dropped your iso to 400 and reduced the amount of noise. As posted I would run some noise reduction on the bg. That said, it's a fine image. :toast:

You did very well for a high ISO and a difficult subject. Nice comp, reflection and water movement.
