Spring run-off at Willard Springs, Big Horn Mountains, Wyoming. The water runs so clear, moving in close captures the colors and patterns of plants and stones on the stream bed. Please comment with suggestions. Thanks

Nancy,

First of all, welcome to NPN and the ES&S Gallery. I see this is your first post here and I must say it's really an attention-getter. What a fascinating abstract of nature. The diversity of colors, shapes and even highlights make this a fascinating capture. Good eye in seeing this.

I suspect some may comment on the brightness or at least some areas of brightness in the image due to the direct lighting. Perhaps some selective burning or darkening of these areas might be a suggestion. But on the other hand, I don't think this intimate little scene would look the same or have the same image as say, in overcast light. It's really the sun that brings out the specular highlights and all the bouncing of light, patterns and colors. And for that, I think this works quite well.

My only other suggestion is a slight crop from the bottom to remove the lighter, brownish patch in the LRC (lower right corner.) the crop would also take out the little patch of moss - which isn't a problem per se. Just a suggestion.

Welcome aboard and we look forward to your images and participation.

Lon

This is so abstract I hardly recognize it as water. Perfect, IMO. Makes me think a lot more than the completely "real" images. I like this a lot.

This is fabulous--im surprised it hasnt gotten more comments! Great mix of colors and contrasts, a fine abstract. My only reservation is that it looks like you lost some DOF--f/4 would explain that--and i think this would be stronger if the ulhc were more in focus. But its a bit hard to tell since the subject itself is so complex. :wavey:
