Your composition skills have definitely improved a lot over the past few months Barbara. With your new camera you will find you have more options for exposure, etc. It will take you a little time to experiment with that and discover what works and what doesn't work. After that comes post processing perhaps. I like the comp here, but I feel this could be a much better image with some careful post processing. Like I said, that will come in time - just keep plugging away and improving on your own time frame.

Looks like you handled very well what looks like tricky lighting to me. Composition is good, the bigger tree on the left seems to hold everything in place.

Gary.

Very nice composition. I might have bracketed a couple shots at f/9 or f/11, just to see what I got. Good job of handling those highlights peeking through the trees. Well done. :toast:

Barbara,

Not sure if this will make sense, but I've also noticed the growth in your compositions and what you're seeing. You've taken a broad scene that has many different elements, but composed it in a way that simplifies or is captured as a "whole."

Agree with Bill's comments. Keep at it. Learning to recognize compositions and then learning to recognize the light... and no need to force anything.

Barbara, this is a great composition, combining the mystic dark and the bright green. The structure of the tree at the left brings a lot of steadyness.
