Taking a Rest

This picture I took with my first SLR in summer 1980. It shows a peasant family in an alpine region in Carinthia, Austria. They take a rest during haymaking. The steep slopes don´t allow to use machines, so it is hard work.

Analog shot, Minolta 100X, Rokkor lens 135mm, Ilford PAN F 50, developed in Ilford Perceptol.

Good backlighting Peter and the diagonal comp works well. It's an interesting photo and a good documentary.

Gary.

I spent a couple of weeks hiking in rural Switzerland in the mid 1990's and came across scenes that were somewhat similar. This is a very nice shot . . . the kids make it a more interesting scene.

This is a wonderful image Peter! This is quite a bit different than the M&N usual adventure images I have seen here. It might be the first time I have seen working people, in this case a family in "nature". Very thought provoking image for me and many thanks for posting it.
