This is the same GBH that was foraging in the fog in "Stalking..." He had flown from the lagoon onto a snag on the shoreline and began preening. He was pretty cooperative and allowed my to get fairly close as he just groomed away. As I maneuvered for better light, the wind kicked up and I was able to capture this image. Kinda reminds me of Keith Richards (in his younger days), with all due respect to him...and the GBH.

The wind really made a nice image even better. :toast: I'd be tempted to crop a bit off the left to minimize the out of focus leaves in the lower left and to also give the appearance of more room on the right. Also nice how you didn't clip the plumage on the herons head.

go Bears. :toast:

I like this one. That wind blown plumage works well. Nice detail and sharpness in the larger image. Agree with the crop on the LLC. I also think you could lighten this one a bit in post processing.

Nicely sharp, but the wind-blown feathers make the shot. Excellent capture.

Love it, Keith Richards... you've insulted the bird, but that is funny, and it does remind me of him! :toast:

Chuck,

I love the wind blown feathers and plume and yes, I can see a bit of Keith Richards here. I like the setting and the nice details in the feathers. I know that you cropped very little from the image so what I am suggesting would be for the future when you are in the field, I would have moved the viewfinder so there would be less room on the left and the bottom to move the bird off center and allow more space above the head. It's a moody image and I like it.
