This a second post of an Evening Grosbeak. It was captured in 2008, near Chaudière river in Beauce,QC. Nice sunny day but temperature was -28C (-18F). The bird was eating snow to become hydrated.

"Nice Sunny Day"...Now THERE'S a good hardy attitude about winter, with those temps!!

Beautiful bird, and the setting is terrific. I like the over-the-shoulder look from the grosbeak as well. Does look a wee bit soft, especially around the head. Maybe a DOF issue?

Nice comp Marc. Great BG too. The bird is a bit soft around the head area. Looks like a bit of motion blur. Still a nice image.

Great background, wonderful life and detail in the tree, snow and bird, with just the little softness the others mentioned. Very appealing image.

love the snowy spruce perch, Marc. Nice pose from the grosbeak, too. Agreed that the head is a little soft, but a nice looking shot all the same.

Beautiful bird and colors. That last round of sharpening does seem to have helped a lot.

Great shot! Love the bright yellow colors and contrast with the snow.

Sharpness in the repost looks better Marc. Love the pose, setting and the bird's head angle. I'd allow a bit more room on the bottom and right side of the frame, it feels tight on the tail. Beautiful setting and a well handled exposure.
