Head Turn

I was back at Bolsa Chica, CA and it was mostly overcast with very little bird activity. After a while a few Blue-wings paddled close the bridge I was on, but of course on the wrong side of the bridge for lighting . So even with the back lighting, I tried to shoot this male who was bathing. I started talking to him, the slow activity was getting to me, and shouted at him to give me a head turn. I learned at NPN that head turns are a plus so this is the look the guy gave me, as if to say "you want a head turn, you want a head turn, you can't handle a head turn". Even with the bad lighting, I like the ripples and I think I got a little detail with levels and slight sharpening and noise reduction. Crop shows 56% of original.

Comments are always appreciated.

People really need to look at the larger image in this one, Harry. You have nice detail showing there, and I find the light interesting. The pose is utterly outrageous! A fun and fine image. :toast:

Harry,

I love the pose and the look the duck was giving you. I think you did well considering the light, the larger version shows detail in the darks. I like the concentric ripples in the water closest to the duck. I might consider cropping some from the top of the frame to eliminate the bright ripple up there as they do draw my eyes up and away from the bird.
