Deer in my yard.

Shot with a Canon G10 from my kitchen window. This is a dumb luck shot since I am not a wildlife photographer (I usually shoot flowers and landscapes) and I didn't even leave my house to get it. The deer wandered into my yard looking for munchies sticking up through the snow. Most of the photos I took over the 10-15 minutes they spent wandering the yard were junk, record shots taken to show my wife who was at work when they were here, but as they were about to leave they stopped in the one are where there was a clear background, no shrubbery, fence, etc., while the doe cleaned the face of it's young one. The washer was running behind me and went into a sip cycle. The sound caused them both to turn and look toward the window. Bingo!

It is going to be really hard for all of us to carry a washing machine around with us to achieve the natural curious pose! I most like how the doe looks back, framing the fawn face under hers. In the most perfect world, I might wish for both fawn ears to be forward, but that is a tiny nit. Congrats on having the camera at ready!

Lovely image Jim. The white BG sets them off nicely and you handled the exposure very well. IMO this is a pretty unusual image due to the poses of the animals and the shooting angle. Very compelling. :toast:

I like it a lot. Especially the behavior, the pose, and the composition. :toast:

Wish for just a bit of separation between the two but I really like the look back poses and the overall look of the image.
