I like this as posted Marc. The white area on the wing doesn't have much detail but not sure if that is ever possible??? Might try selectively darkening it a little there? A very pretty species I think.

Marc,
Wonderful shot of a magnificent bird. I have never seen one in the wild and hope to change that soon.

Nice look at this grosbeak Marc. I like the overall comp and the bird is sharp. Great BG too. The white wing area is a lot like the white rump patch on the northern harrier IMO, not much detail there to see even when exposed "correctly." That being said, I might try and bring that area down a bit to see if you can reduce the brightness and still keep it looking white and not grey.

Marc,
Love the pose of the grosbeak, the darker background and the perch. Nice light in the bird's eye and view of the larger bill of this species. The whites could be toned down a little IMO, very little detail might show because of the nature of those feathers, but the bright whites do pull my eyes. Both of your file sizes on the server are fairly small, smaller version is 90.5 kb, larger version only 254 kb. Compressing too much can cause a loss of detail, try keeping the file size closer to 300 kb for the small version and 500 kb for the large.

Very nice shot of a beautiful bird. If it needs to warm up please send it down to my backyard.

Nice, Marc. That wing patch is difficult. I think it could be toned down a bit without damaging the image.
