Subtle Surprises
by Anne K. Rusk
In the tropical greenhouse at the Denver Botanic Gardens lives this Begonia bush (begonia aconitifolia). The first time I looked close, I was surprised by the yellow frillies (technical term!) in the center. I've been back to visit it three times now to get the focus correct! The greenhouse is constantly pumping humid air making these fragile flowers dance ever-so-slightly. The first attempt was without a tripod (I didn't know they allowed them at the time) so this is from my 2nd attempt. More to come soon!
All C&C welcome and appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
Anne

We have the same flowers in the conservatory at HK Park. I have be playing with these as well and the slight movement in the air from the air conditioning does make this tricky eventhough it is indoor. So far I have not succeeded in capturing anything I like (and I have been a few times as well).
Love your shallow DOF here, the arching white petals and the yellow frillies.
Pat: I got a membership to the gardens for Christmas so I've been able to go for an hour here and there during less popular hours!
Gary: I'd love to see your take on these interesting little gems!
