Far Away Fairway

After viewing the NPN galleries for some time now as a non-member, I decided to go ahead and join. This is my first post so I hope you enjoy.

This photo was taken on a golf course in North East Texas during the recent winter weather that passed through. Snow doesn't come too often to this part of the country so when it blankets the area like this it is definitely something of note. I like the contrasts of the background trees to the live oak in the foreground. The dense canopy of its leaves provided the trunk some protection but the background trees were not so lucky as to be shielded from the wind and snow.

I made some minor adjustments in PS4 for brightness and curves. I cropped out a branch of another tree off to the left and cloned out some of the visible cart path directly behind the tree. Feedback is very much appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Fantastic shot Cristina I love it. The delicate palette of pepermint greens mixed with the ethereal lightness of mist and snow is a wonderful combination.

Cristina,

I love the effect of this shot. My only nit is the Oak in the foreground appears cramped. If this were mine I would leave a bit more space on either side of the tree to bring out the trees in the background. Welcome to the best nature photography site that exists today and I look forward to seeing more of your photos.

Welcome, Christina! This is a real beauty. I love the shape of this tree and the contrast of the subtle colors with the monochromatic background. I agree with the other poster about this feeling a bit cramped.

Welcome to NPN, Christina! What a fine first post, too! The image has a delicate, sensitive feel to me. Excellent use of the light on a fabulous subject with the contrast of the other trees in the background. Look forward to seeing a lot more of your work now that you got your feet wet. Again, welcome; and congratulations on getting a Pick with a first post!

Welcome to NPN Christina. It's a great community of photographers. What I like about this image is that you would never know it was photographed on a golf course. Your post processing very much enhances this image. Great job! I look forward to viewing more of your work.

Cristina: What a fantastic introductory image. Of course the problem with hitting one out of the park on the first pitch is that you've set a high standard for yourself. Hope to see some of your work in Flora. Wonderful shot. >=))>
