I don't know if you get many B&W over here in Flora, but I thought I would give it a try. I posted the color version of this some time back but thought it might convert well to monochrome. A fairly simple shot, this fern was receiving light against a shadowed BG. Please view the LARGER version as the detail is MUCH better there.

D2X w/ 70-200 VR @ 135mm
1/50 @ f/8 - MLU and mc-30 remote release
100 ISO
Don't remember about filtration
Tripod
Capture One 4, CS4, Silver Efex Pro, TK's Luminosity Masks

Critiques, suggestions, and comments always welcomed and greatly appreciated. Thanks for looking.

Bill: You're right about not a lot of B&W but this subject does indeed lend itself to the genre. Solid comp and conversion and for me the contrast is just right. Superbly crafted image. >=))>

Bill, I am not drawn to B&W normally, but this particular image is wonderful in B&W. Great lighting and separation from background, detail and comp.

B&W sure works well with this image. The lighting is right on and the detail (especially in the large version) is really good. The comp is also very strong. Nice capture!

I don't remember the color version but I can bet that I would prefer this over that. Great light and excellent job with the processing.

Very effective, Bill. I don't remember the color version but I can't imagine that it would have as much impact as this one does. Good execution of post processing.

Beautiful black and white Bill. Love the comp and the supporting bg is just right for my tastes. Probably two thirds of my all time favorite images are black and white. I hope you'll send more this way when you have something you like. You can probably tell I like this one.

Beautiful Bill. Yes I'm another one who posts in B/W. The feeling of depth is awesome.

Kudos.
