Flint River

Hi everyone, this my my first post here in the regional gallery. I live in Mid-Michigan between the cities of Flint and Saginaw. This is a section of the Flint River I was kayaking down last Feb. While kayaking I use an older camera, an HP 850 set on AUTO mode. I don't dare try anything manual with this camera for the shutter lag alone is about 3 sec  . Still it allows me to capture some shots without worrying to much about getting my gear wet.

Thanks for looking and now that I've found this gallery I'll try to stay in touch.

Good to see you here in MWNP John! Nice image, I really like the symmetry in the reflections! Looks like a great place to spend some time.

Welcome to the MWNP forum and gallery, John! :wavey:

Nice perspective on this one...I like the low angle and the reflections, especially the branch hanging over the river. It's as if it, and it's reflection, are framing the scene.

Very nice shot, John. I like the view from the kayak. I just started to do some kayaking last fall. Glad I didn't have good camera gear with me so far. Got up side down the first time

Hi John. I live in Saginaw. A couple years back I bought a solo canoe with the specific idea of paddling some of the rivers for photo ops. I like this image -- I always am drawn to reflections and even recently blogged about the topic.

I wonder if this would have greater impact if you cropped the top just above the high snow-covered bank on the left and just some of the entire right of the photo, concentrating on just the reflection, itself? Just a thought.

Interesting perspective the kayak position provided. I'd like to see a bit more room on the left, to give the branch (and its reflection) a bit of "breathing space."
