Helmets & Tawny

I post this shot of Helmeted Guinea Fowl badgering a young Tawny Eagle as I have cloned out a third Guineaa Fowl from the front of the shot. I would appreciate opinions on whether it works with just the two guineas and if you think the clone is obvious. Cloning in CS4 is not my stong suit!

Taken in The Serengeti Jan 2009

If you hadn't mentioned it I doubt if any would have noticed.

I would *never* have noticed the cloned out section. Even after you mentioned it, when I was looking for it, I couldn't find it. And the eye just goes from bird to bird trying to figure out what's going on, and what's going to happen next. Interesting interaction!

I certainly didn't notice it until I had looked at the second picture - from the way the eagle was looking I had assumed it was to the left. It is a great shot of the eagle, and the two guineafowl are sufficently in focus to work.

Sorry, the composition doesn't really work for me. I like the interaction between the eagle and the HGFs better with the third GF included.

Bob - try using a combination of the Patch and Clone tools - patch tool is very under used and is a lot better for doing this sort of job if you nibble away at the offending article.

Cloned section stands out a mile on the larger version.

Hi Bob, you can notice the clone. Although I am sure with patience it could be done so none would notice, if you feel it the third GF needs removing. I am not sure it does.

Lovely Tawny Eagle though, Keep at it and repost the results, we need more African Wildlife

Thanks Phil. I did the F panel advisory day recently and they suggested taking out the GF. I will have another go at it though.

Thanks for the advice Andy

Phil I think I agree that it is better with thre HGF. When I first used the image for a talk I used the following frame and cropped it portrait. What do you think?

Really like it Bob, especially as your comment about the third fowl bought back memories of spot the ball!!! And no I couldn't find it! Would make a great image for a caption competition such as Outdoor Photography :toast: :toast:
