Palm Tanager

Another of the images I captured in Punta Cana, in the Dominican Republic on Christmas Day. This of a Black-Crowned Palm Tanager. I was forced into this somewhat pano crop because of some very harsh reflections on a few branches above the bird.

Thanks for looking.

Hi Chuck, Nice shot and the bird looks well with the panoramic framing. Would suggest cloning out the branch on the left.

Cheers,

Carol

Nice catch Chuck, neat looking species. I like the image as is. With the other three branches, I'm inclined to keep the branch on the left as well. Gives a better impression of the habitat for me.

The pano view is a good choice for the shape and position of this bird, regardless of the reflections that had to go. Very nice photo, the thick black frame is fitting. :toast:

I like this point of view-it works because the bird has turned his head and is giving you good eye contact. I like the comp you have chosen and there is some pretty good detail in the body of the bird-and the toenails! It must have been fairly dark as your shutter speed is pretty slow. There is some softness in the head-but at 1/50 you've actually done a quite good job.

Nice, Charles. I like the pose and the semi-pano crop works well with it. :toast:

A nice look at this bird Chuck. Love the green BG. I like the comp as is as well. No need for cloning here IMO. Head lacks a bit of the detail other parts of the bird have, but still very nice.
