Not a creative title or subject but that's fine with me. Did my first "manual blend" of two images to obtain increased DOF. Added a triangle on the bottom from another image (which is pretty impressive considering this was HH!)

Nikon D300s 105mm f/2.8 VR HH
f/3.3
1/1400s
ISO 320
-.33 EC

Loaded consecutive images into ACR and adjusted exposure, clarity, WB and contrast. Manually blended the two images in CS5 on 27" iMac. Very minor cloning to cleanup the seam and sharpened using Smart Sharpen and USM via color range / inverse selection

I don't know anything about the process you used, but the result is great. The larger version is mesmerizing.

Very cool capture, Luke. Why manual blending for DOF rather than using the tools provided in CS5 for the same issue? I've generally found that those work pretty well (though I'm blanking on the name of the function right now). It doesn't really matter, as this is extremely well done regardless . . . just curious though.

Phil,

I'm not familiar with what you are talking about (and to be honest, have not explored many areas of CS5). The manual blend literally took a few minutes so another solution wouldn't save me much but I certainly would be interested to know if I were to take on larger projects.

Luke,
I like the result of your PP. The DOF is really good and the web seems really bejeweled.

And yet again, Luke, thanks. I've learned just how much I do not know from you and with Barbara's great topic.
