Tawny Eagle Fight

I had finished photographing the juvenile and was driving off when the adult bird swooped down and attacked it. As a result I was hand holding from a rolling LandCruiser and relying on the IS. It is a serious crop representing about a 1/5th of the original image but I felt that the action was worth a posting.

Taken in the Ngorongoro Crater, Tanzania in Feb 2010 on an annual trip that I organise for photographers.

Wonderful, considering the conditions!
Quite soft, though.

That's a great capture Bob and the position of both birds is really good which is seldom the case when you only have a fleeting chance of a shot. Why do these things never happen at a sensible range ? It is a bit soft, but I would imagine that is just an unavoidable side effect of it being such a large crop and the circumstances would hardly have helped. Some things just have to be recorded as seen, so this shot being as good as it is, is a real bonus. Well seen.

Great action, but the heavy crop shows, especially on the large version.
