Happy New Year and all the best in 2011!

Awaking, Kananaskis Country, Alberta.

Image taken last fall at Kananaskis Country. It was my third trip to this beautiful lake perched high above the valley floor. This time I got rewarded with a light that I was hoping for.

Thank you for having a look and leaving a comment.

D5 II, 16-35mm at 22mm, 1/15s at F 13, two raw files hand blended.

Great framing on this Wieslaw. Good simple comp that's easy on the eyes.

Lovely mood and gorgeous light in a very pleasing composition. The yellow of sunrise or sunset looks a little too sulphurous at the end of the mountains but otherwise a gorgeous shot.

What I really love about this shot is how the lake itself is the protagonist and everything else the supporting cast (I hate to write such a cheesy metaphor but I can't think of any other way to say it). When I first glanced at the photo, I thought, wow that is an awesome lake! Anyhow, it just makes me think how it's kind of a subtly rare thing to successfully portray a lake as the main subject, and not just a reflection-device.

Gorgeous shot, Wieslaw! Love the windblown surface of the lake and low overhanging clouds... perfect framing... and can't help but think about how cold it must've been!

Beautiful photo! All the elements really come together for this one. What really seals the deal is the beautiful crimson light reflecting off the rain/clouds in the middle of this image.

A real light show. Seems the lake is at the edge of the world. Terrific, Wieslaw.

This is gorgeous! Beautifully framed and the way the light is working with the lake's surface really grabs my attention.

Wonderful color and framing. I especially like the lighting and the hint of bright light coming (or going) from the right side of the mountains.
