Photographed in Awakabal Reserve near Newcastle on the Coast of NSW, Australia. This proved to be an excellent spot for photographing Honeyeaters.
Nikon D300, Nikkor 500mm f/4 + 1.7 TC., f/6.7, 1/1000, ISO 800, Call used.

Welcome!
Lovely first post!
Great pose, good eye, nice perch, and clean BG.
Your choice of comp works well, also.
Cheers!

Welcome to NPON Gerard. Love the detail, light and comp on this. Good choice of a slight pano as well. Only wish you would have posted the larger version as well so I could enjoy it even more. Nice work!

Hi Gerald, Welcome to NPN and Avian. Love the arch in the throat on this bird. Nice bokeh too. Not crazy about the angle of the branch but not a deal breaker. Lots of times we take what we can get. Looking forward to seeing more of your images.

Love the overall comp Gerard. Sharpness and detail on the bird look good, but a larger version would make that assessment easier and I encourage you to post a 1200px in the future. Sure is nice to see all the detail. Great BG, perch, and eye contact from the bird. Well done. Keep them coming.

This bird gave you a very nice pose with an excellent background. Your details look very good but would love to see them better in a larger post.
