Olympus E-3, 300mm, laying on ground
f4.5, 1/320, ISO200

This is a re-worked version of a photo I posted about two weeks ago, before I'd gotten my laptop calibrated. She was on eggs, and I was about 10 meters away. It's the largest of the Giant Petrels, with a wing span of about seven feet.

Full frame.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

Beautiful bird - nice pose, detail, and environment.
Nice to be so close that a 300 doesn't allow the whole bird in the frame!

I love the low angle on this one, excellent detail and a nice setting - well done.

This version looks much better to my eye Jim - lightening the image was a major improvement IMO. Great look at that tube nose.

I'm really enjoying this series of shots from your recent trip. Very interesting perspective on this one. Nice job on the re-processing.

Unusual bird, much wonderful detail here, Jim. I compared it with your previous post and can see it was a good idea to post the new version. :toast:

Wow, that is quite a beak, I have never seen one of these before. I like the low perspective and how the bird fits into the composition. Wonderful detail on the larger image, well done.
