Back to the tulips. I worked this bunch pretty thoroughly both as an exercise for myself and to demonstrate what's possible by looking at a subject from several perspectives and angles. Still got a few more. All comments welcome.>=))>

Wow, Bill! This is an excellent series! I like the vertical orientation for sure. What I like most is the sharp texture leading up the right side of the bloom. It makes me wonder what it would look like with more space on the right (I don't know if that was even possible!). My only other extremely minor nit is the dirt speck at the base of the petals. These are both very strong images without need of improvement, so I hope I'm not being too picky!

Beautiful series - and it certainly helps us visualize different comps and perspectives.
That dirt speck bugs me too, sorry - otherwise, PERfect!

Wonderful to see the different perspectives. I love the vertical image here. Amazingly sharp and clear, and the curves are wonderful.

Both are nice shots. I like the horiz comp better, maybe because the vertical frame is too dominated by the unfocused part of the flower, but I don't know... its close. Nice work.

Love the comp Bill. You probably already know that I'm going to have trouble with this much of the fg being soft. (smile) Even so, I like both of these. The top is my favorite and I love reading it from right to left back to front rather than left to right, front to back. Color palette is also very appealing. It's been a beautiful series.

I prefer the horizontal as I like to see the dark border run all the way up the right side of the frame rather than having the sharp petal running out of the frame along that side as it does in the vertical.
Very interesting composition and use of selective focus....well done.

Very pretty Bill. Great color, nice placement of the focus, and a cool overall shot. I like the original best. Hope you had a merry Christmas and I hope you have a great new year.

Bill:
Like the original more - better processing and nice sharp edge. The second version can do with a little more sharpening. The curves are just great and colors are luscious. Enjoying your poppy series and hope to see more.

Excellent shot- In my opinion, vertical composition is far better, the curved dark background works perfectly with this image- great job, Fabio

A wonderful series on the tulips, for sure, Bill. Of these, I like the vertical because of the length of the curve going up the right side to more of a sense of completion. Amazing control of the dof from the stem all the way the edge of the petal ! Otherwise, there's a lot on the left that's in my face and oof; not sure about that... Perhaps if that part of the flower were darker?

Hi Bill :wavey: Here's my analogy. Were approaching planet tulip. The first view is 50million miles away. the second view is closer, 10million miles away. through a different window.. I love both views. hope we never land.

Selective focus means just that and I think you've made a great choice. My eye goes neatly past the foreground blur and locks on to the back curved petal immediately. I like this very much.

Both work on different emotional levels for me. I think I prefer the first, but only slightly. Great series with these tulips!
