I was taking photos of waterfalls this weekend and had the wrong lens on for birds. While working on this image at home, I noticed a big ball of fishing line hanging behind the heron, so I went back and took it down and got rid of it.
I used a 40D with 28-105mm lense set at 105mm, F8 1/50sec and ISO 1000, hand held. Also this is 70% of full frame, I cropped it alot to get rid of a big metal drainage pipe.

I like the comp of the image. Very nice environmental shot. I can't tell about the focus on the bird without a larger image to look at.

Beautiful setting! I think I still see some fishing line behind the bird to the left.

Hi Tony,
Really nice environmental image. I like your comp but think it might be even better if you took a sliver off the left and included a little more room at the bottom (although it sounds as if you may have left that out because of the pipe - if so I would leave it as is. :toast:

I like this composition and the feeling of being right there that it gives.

Thank you for the comments. I meant to say I went back where I took the photo and climbed up and actually removed the fishing line from the creek, not the photo. Also, I tried to take a little more off the left and add more to the bottom, but the metal pipe is visible, so I left it as is. Again, Thanks for the great comments and suggestions, it helps alot.
