Zonotrichia leucophrys juvenile

Taken the end of November in Utah,I was fortunate that the juvenile sparrow turned on the branch, the images taken just before this had the OOF frost covered vegetation in front of the bird when it was facing the opposite direction, in this pose the OOF area is to the left of the bird. We didn't get many images of the sparrow because a truck was coming down the road.

D200, f6.3, 1/1600, ISO 400, 0.0 EV, 200-400mm VR with 1.4x TC at 400mm, natural light, not a set up. Full frame. Larger version provided.

As always, I sincerely appreciate your comments and critiques on my images. Wishing everyone joy with their friends & familes over the holidays.

Mia, Nice and sharp. From a compositional POV, I would crop from the left and if possible add canvas to the right.

Nice capture.

Mia,
this sparrow has a look that seems right now he is staring you and from there to a moment you expect him to fly away in a flutter of wings. Beautiful.
Merry Christmas! :wavey:

The larger version is awesome Mia. The detail in this FF shot is super. I especially like the area around the eye. Very natural as if looking at the bird with my own eyes in real life. The true measure of an image IMO. Love the BG and the frost on the branch. Comp is fine IMO.

Great detail right down to the tiny bit of "food" in the beak. Love the eye and of course, the frost.

I envy you your ability to get these razor sharp images, with exquisite detail in each feather, and to do so before the big truck coming down the road spooks the bird. Give me a sleeping penguin, a tripod and a half an hour and I still can't get an image this crisp. Lovely work on this juvenile, Mia.

And a most Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you and yours.

looks great, Mia. especially nice that it's full frame--detail is excellent. I love the wintery setting too. Interesting pose with the wings lowered, showing the rump feathers well.

Excellent image. Perfect detail in everything from the bird to the frost. Sparrows are underrated-at least the way you have presented this one. The comp works well for me. Great job.
