Pheasant in snow
by Austin Thomas
I braved the minus 14 temperatures today to head over to my local WWT establishment.
Understandably everything was frozen and there were surprisingly few birds about, probably due to the lack of food and water.
I did find this chap braving the elements.
C&C welcome.

The added advantage is the light being thrown up to evenly illuminate the pheasant's chest.
Good one.
Merry Christmas.
Geoff.
Seriously a very striking and rich image, with great colour & detail in the plumage and the setting of the snow as a BG really makes this stand out extremely well. Look forward to more with the new toy, how are you finding it compared to the 500?

@Steve. It is not grey.Canon UK supplied it. So far I have only had this one session when the light was well on my side, which makes any lens look good. Focus is a lot faster than a 500mm with 1.4 and it gave some incredibly sharp images yesterday. Taking it to the coast for high tide today.
Cheers
