Hawfinch
This is a different bird from the other which has a mark on the bill. This one is eating the few remaining shriveled up Blackthorn sloes. These are at the front of the tree so its about as near as it will get. (45 feet)
Cropped from horizontal . (The lens will not move on my strenghtened home made mount.)
D200 Sigma 50-500
640 ISO
125th @f7.1
Processed PSPro.
Levels Sharpened czm Some snow toned down a bit which really made the exposure a pain.
Festive Greetings to all the friends I have made on the forum.
Cheers

Good bird to be getting shots of. I particularly like the behavioural context that you've captured.

Thanks Phil
To be honest its often the behaviour that interests me more than the picture taking.

a great bird to have visiting you John. A nice shot too. It may be me, but the head looks ever so slightly over sharpened I think.

Another nice capture John. Like the eye. I take it you keep a record of all the birds that visit your garden. It should make very good reading.

Festive greetings to you. Have replied to your pm.
