Osprey Eating a Fish

I was setting at Bolsa Chica, Ca. waiting for some activity when a fellow photographer arrived and said "Look up". An Osprey had landed with its catch and I had not even noticed. Probably would have sat there until it left if it was not for my friends arrival. We took quite a few shots looking up. Crop shows 70% of original.

Comments are appreciated.

Great capture, Harry. I like the pose with the fish in his talons. The larger version shows an excellent detail. On my monitor some white spot (head and leg) seems to me just a bit hot.
Really nice. :toast:

Tough lighting and angle, but you handled it very effectively and came up with a nice image. Only minor suggestion is that I see a hint of a halo around things...shadow/highlight tool in PS? Minor and easily fixed though...cool shot.

Harry,

Glad your friend told you about the Osprey above you. How nice of it to bring its prey & eat it so close to you.

I like the pose, though the angle is a bit steep this is still appealing to me because Ospreys usually like to perch up high when eating. I think that gives them a wide view to keep an eye out for any other birds who might steal the fish. I like the sharpness and the detail plus the great look at the bird's eye.

I can see the halo that has been mentioned and I would work on resolving that and see about bringing down the whitest whites in ACR.

In the field; if it had been possible, I may have moved to the left to get more even light on the osprey but I like the side lighting too.
