Another Puffin image from Skomer Island in West Wales, UK.

A slight crop off the left and bottom only as the Puffin was dead centre as shot.

To catch a puffin in flight is already a great achievement . I like the blur of the wings. It seems to me that the critical focus is more on the legs that the eye (due to the slight obliquity of the body). However, a remarkable image .

Love the fish Geoffrey. Sharpness of the body looks good, and blur of the wings works well for me. A bit better look at the eye would have been nice, but this is good as posted.

Geoff, I like the wing position and their blur is just fine for me. With this light I enjoy the Puffin against the dark background and I think your composition works well. I do think the head and the fish could be sharper though.

Great look at this bird in flight. Softness as previously mentioned, but you have a great image here.

Really cool catch. I agree the head area is a bit soft.

I love the puffin against the dark background, the bit of green in the lrc helps break up the monochrome. Maybe a touch more sharpening on the head of the puffin.

You made exceptional use of what the bird gave you. Alcids in flight are tough.

I appreciate how difficult this type of shot is, sideways on nearly full frame. I tried to get this type of shot on the Farnes this year but never got this close, virtually all were not sharp. I like the background it shows the bird up well. Hope to visit Skomer next year. Graham
