Related to my current ESS post, on my way to shoot a waterfall the other morning, I came over a mountain top and was greeted by this stunning sunrise, first pink, then orange. No saturation has been added. I kept the snow and fence posts in.

It delayed my trip by about half an hour, and froze my hands, but well worth it. Amidst the snow flurries, I've tried to remove any dust spots. D-60, ISO-100, 1/200th second, f-7.1, 40mm, no CPL. Larger posted, thank you for any C&C!

The sharpening toned down a bit. The spots are snowflakes, but opins as to whether I should take them out appreciated! Thanks.

This is just gorgeous. The flakes don't bother me at all.

A nice shot with a cool effect on the sun.

Just a note about "not saturation added". Since this is a .jpeg straight from the camera, the camera's algorithims add saturation. If you take a RAW image and take a .Jpeg of something colorful (like a sunrise) with the same camera, the RAW image will come out looking rather flat, whereas the .jpeg will come out looking quite saturated (and in some cases, oversaturated, depending on settings).

I understand your reasoning for stating that, I just wanted to make that point for others who may not understand the settings applied in-camera to .jpegs vs. RAW images.

I really like the shape of the sun in the sky. The version with less sharpening definitely looks better. The snow flakes really don't bother me, but some might think they look like dust spots.

Gorgeous image, Bill. I like the edit better. This reminds me of an illustration for an apocalytic novel of a dying earth. Quite beautiful in the juxtaposition of the stark foreground and the warm colors in the sky. Also nice, is the way the grays manage to encapsulate those warm colors on three sides.

Thanks Luke--I know you get why I said that about no saturation.

But I had no idea on the rest to be honest!! Thanks for another lesson my friend. :toast: And thanks everyone else, I like this puppy personally.
