Painted Hills Sunset

Evening light illuminating a cluster of bunch-grasses at the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument. There was direct sunlight on the bunch grasses in the foreground and diffused light hitting the hills. I think the different light intensities worked out well for this scene.

C&C are always appreciated. Please view large (the web compression hit the small version hard)

The different light certainly did work! I love the earth tones and lighting! :toast:

Looks great to me Scott, even on holidays with my uncalibrated laptop. Beautiful light and warm colours.

The light on the grasses and hills is sweet. Would perhaps like a little more on the peaks and taller hills in the background.

I agree with the comments already made, great light and color. I don't know if it is just me, but maybe this could use a little rotation to the right.

Beautiful, Scott! I've never seen the Painted Hills portrayed with
such a strong FG. The lighting and colors here are exquisite.

Nice contrast between the harsh fg patterns and the soft on that far away hills.

This is really good, Scott. The foreground grass and the distant mountains do a great job of creating depth here. The balance of light is really nice too.

Very nice. I really like the warm light, and the pattern on the hills in the background.

great scene and wonderful light. I personally would tone down the fg highlights just a touch - but that's just a minor suggestion.

Scott,

What beautiful light and color. And the composition is a refreshing view from this area; feels intimate with the grasses upfront, but this is also a grand landscape. Beautifully captured.
