Sugar Land TX.

D3 ISO 640. 300/2.8 with 2x tc. f5.6 1/2500 -0.3ev. About 40% of full frame. Resting on car window. Late afternoon sun.

Working on my bird in flight skills. At this point I'll track anything that moves, just to see if I can. That guy on the bicycle today looked a bit disconcerted!

I love the lighting and detail you achieved Angela! I like the slightly green tinge to the background sky, very unique. Really natural look to the colors of the plumage. I wasn't too sure about the square crop but after staring at it for a while I think it works quite well. Oh, and I think your flight photography skills are coming along just fine young lady (HUGE UNDERSTATEMENT). :toast: :toast:

Really nice!
Great pose and detail.
A bit of a halo is present around the head and the upper wing.
I've had fairly distant people duck when I swung around, tracking a bird. They maybe thought it was a gun? Sad times..

Looks very good Angela, even at 40% the details look great..
The square crop works for me..Also like the bit wing tip shadow I see, from the low angle of the late light :toast:

Very nicely done on a difficult subject Angela. I particularly like the wing position with the angle of light that prevented significant shadows which are often a problem with this species. And that troublesome white rump patch looks great. Nice eye contact also. This looks very good for the size of the crop IMO.

The wings up pose enhances the bird of prey look. Nice job on exposure and comp, Angela.

Great light here Angela. Really nice detail for the crop and the pose is excellent. No nits from me on this shot. Looks like your BIF skills are coming along. And, I know what you mean about the guy on the bike. I went through that stage too and I got a lot of weird looks from people.

Very good detail for a harrier and the light is pretty nice and soft. Congrats

Angela,

Love the lifted wings, the light and the eye contact, you did very well not to blow out that infamous "white rump"!

I went through a stage too where I photographed anythign that moved to develop skills and to sharpen my reflexes

When I see images like this Angela I realise my flight shot technique is not very good as I have never achieved anything as good as this yet. Beautiful detail throughout and I envy your dof at f5.6. Graham
