Go out in below 10-degree weather to shoot waterfall. Crest a mountain along the way. Stunning, glowing sunrise ahead! Slam on car brakes. Gear flies. Whew, no accident. Turn on dirt road, start shooting. Can't feel fingers. It's all good.

D60, ISO-400, 1/250th, f-5.3 at 40mm. Some minor adjustments in Elements trying to make the most of the light on the FG bushes and the snow flurries. Didn't touch the color at all, the sun went from pink to orange and had the appearance of a burning flame at the top. C&C welcomed, larger posted. Thanks.

You're images are always a surprise, Bill. This is a really good one. Were you shooting through a window here? Feels like a bit of glass dust, especially in the sky.

A small price to pay for a fantastic image! I'll suggest a crop off the bottom so that the front grass isn't quite so dominant and maybe a bit of selective sharpening on the tops of the grass. i love how the grass has picked-up the colour of the sun. :toast:

wow, Bill - it's amazing how much you have improved since you started on NPN. This is excellent. I like the detail and shallow dof in the grass and the falling snow is a great touch. Just get rid of the dust spots and you have a very fine image

Thanks for the responses. Please see the repost below as well.

First, NO Tony, this was not shot thru a window and my hands can attest. The dust spots, now that I looked again closely, definitely dust and not snow. It's been a problem with this D60 after many cleaning attempts too, especially at slower shutter speeds.

Here, I thought they could be distant snowflakes so I didn't clone them out, but I guess not. It's most obvious in images that include water, but apparent here.

Thanks all for the tips and comments! :toast:

Again, I really appreciate the comments and suggestions. So I went back in and did what I could re: FG sharpening/color, and spot removal given my PSE abilities. I hope this proves better. I'll also be posting a sister image to this in M&N, which I'm debating whether I enjoy more, or not. :toast:

One of the best I've seen from you, Bill. The repost actually appears to be oversharpened. I think the original is fine myself.
And those are definitely not sensor dust spots. I think they're snowflakes if you weren't shooting through a window. Sensor dust shows up as light grey blobs.

I love the mix of warm and cool here, with texture below and color above - a beautiful image Bill.

Really nice image Bill. The layers and the glow in the sky are well captured. What I like even more is the details of snow blowing around or coming down which gives even more of a sense of the scene.

Beautiful image Bill! What a glorious sunrise!

Repost looks great, although I would take the sharpening of the original grasses over the repost - looks like it's oversharpened just a tad.
