Ring-necked hen
by Craig Strand
I came across a pair of Ring-necked duck hens at the wildlife refuge. While the drakes coloration is very colorful, I love the earth tones possessed by these beautiful hens.

7 commentsI like the pose, the eye contact and the beautiful colors in the water. I do think reducing the contrast slightly would improve your image and perhaps allow more detail to be seen in the darks. I'd also crop some from the bottom but allow more space on the left, right and top as this does feel a bit tight. I love the beauty of the male ring-necked ducks but I very much enjoy the more subtle beauty of the hens too.
