Ring-necked Pheasant

I found this male pheasant foraging on rose hips after a late autumn storm in eastern Oregon a couple weeks ago. This is one of the few clean views he offered.

Canon 40D, 100-400mm @310mm, f6.3, 1/160, ISO 640

All your comments and suggestions are very much appreciated.

Very clean and very nice. It seems just a little tight top and left. You did very well with all the whites.

A bit large in the frame for me, but you did well getting him!

Nice one Ken. The head and neck colors show a bit better on the larger one. Good exposure

Good catch, Ken. Nice job on the exposure with that snowy bg. It's a bit tight for my taste-you might back off on the zoom a bit more. :toast:

Ken, lovely pose and colors, and great whites.
Any chance for a bit more room?

These really are a colourful and attractive bird and I'm surprised we don't see more images of them. The light probably wasn't that good but I really like habitat and think it might be better showing a bit more of this.Graham

I have seen hundreds of Pheasants in my life and this image really attracts me. The color and detail are great. The only nit is it would have been nice to have a bit more room.

I love this Ken, just as it is. I like the close up. I think the snow/ brush bg is great for this bird however too much would be, too much.
